What do you mean by "our AC units require fresh air ventilation"? Fresh air doesn't come from the attic. If there's an atmospheric combustion appliance in the attic, such as an 80 AFUE furnace, then you shouldn't be encapsulating the attic anyway. If that's the case, you don't want spray foam on the roofline at all. You can either change out the furnace to a sealed combustion unit or do your insulating and air-sealing at the flat-ceiling level. Insulation Spray Coating
This is more common with closed cell foam, but it happens with open cell foam, too. Since closed cell foam has a higher R-value per inch, installers generally spray 2" in walls and 3" in rooflines to meet the energy code requirements of R-13 and R-19, respectively. The local foam installer that I used here in Hilton Head told me he looked for some peeling back of the foam. This was ensuring that it was at the perfect temperature which helped them maximize their yield (profit). I have open cell foam and it pulled away a little, and did so immediately (within minutes). They went back after they were done to any spots that pulled away too much and filled them with the touch up kit; they were looking for the top edge to roll just a little bit. 
Ignition barriers include six permissible materials. An ignition barrier can be 1/4-inch plywood or structural panels, 1 1/2-inch mineral fiber insulation, 1/4 inch hardboard, corrosion resistant steel at least .016 inches thick, 3/8-inch gypsum board, or 3/8- inch particle board. These sizes are the minimum; code officials will approve of thicker versions of any of these six materials as ignition barriers. Like thermal barriers, equivalent materials that have been shown to have equivalent fire resistance are acceptable. Thermal barriers are defined in building code as 1/2-inch gypsum wallboard or any material that is as equally fire resistant as 1/2-inch gypsum wallboard. The gypsum wallboard is known as a prescriptive thermal barrier. Materials are tested in a 15-minute fire test in order to determine whether or not they are equal in fire resistance to the 1/2-inch gypsum wallboard. If they are, then they can be used and counted as the equivalent of gypsum wallboard.

There are exceptions to the thermal barrier rules. If the spray foam insulation is used as roofing or covered by concrete whichis, at least, an inch thick, then thermal barriers are not necessary. Additionally, you do not have to use a thermal barrier if the spray foam insulation is used on the interior of sill plates and rim joists, so long as the spray foam is 3 1/4 inches or less. Thermal barriers are also not necessary if the spray foam insulation is used in an attic or crawl space, as long as they are not used for storage or as living areas. Good article, but it seems like you can chalk up almost all of those problems to the experience level of whomever is spraying the foam. Spray foam isn't an inherently bad product, but it's pretty easy to botch if the hired company is inexperienced. Fiberglass may be foolproof to install, but then again it has a terrible R-Value compared to a good spray foam. I first hand washed it, then used Meguiars Clay Bar kit on it, then compounded it using Meguiars Ultimate Compound, then polished it using Meguiars polish, then used wax and grease remover to remove any oily residue from the previous steps, then applied the Mother's CMX using a microfiber foam hand applicator to spread one spray at a time evenly across the paint... Let it sit for a few minutes to bond with the paint surface, then used a really soft microfiber towel that came with my clay bar kit to buff off the dried powder residue to a perfect shine!! It wiped off very easily and then let it sit to cure for 24 hours without getting wet... It looks flawless on my fresh black paint! And water falls right off of it like all the other great brand ceramic coatings!! Highly recommend it especially for the price and the big bottle... This stuff has a very strong smell to it (must be good!), and is completely white like milk inside it if you unscrew the cap and have a look at it... I'm very satisfied, this was my first time ever using a ceramic coating before and it worked exactly how they claimed and advertised in their video Ads on FACEBOOK Coating Services

Surface Preparation (Residential & Commercial): Pressure wash when possible using pure water. Be sure the surface is clean and completely dry before the application of the coating. Read all label instructions before beginning. Surface must be in savable condition, clean and dry, and should have proper drainage. Always run a test patch first in an inconspicuous area, to ensure that proper adhesion and drying occurs and the product works to your satisfaction. The drawback to spray foam insulation is it's been known to cause certain health issues such irritation of the eye and the gastrointestinal and respiratory tracts. Another type of thermal barrier that can be used instead of prescriptive or approved equivalents is a barrier that has been tested as an alternate assembly. Alternate assembly methods are used to get approval for various types of intumescent coatings.
